Taranaki Stories
Natural World
Taranaki is steeped in geological wonders – from giant crabs to amazing land formations. In this section, you can learn about the region's wild volcanic history, tap into seven super surprises hidden in the earth, dig deep into information about an ancient Māori hunting site and find facts about a bird that's no more. There's even a tale focusing on Taranaki's famous felines. Later, we will tell the history of New Plymouth's man-made park, pass on a peachy story with roots in the past, talk to a man who developed a cherry of a tree, divine the waters of a mineral baths, look at one of Taranaki's most green-fingered families and take you down some amazing garden paths. This is an ever-growing section.
