About the TET
The Taranaki Electricty Trust

The Taranaki Electricity Trust is a charitable trust.

The trust was formed in 1993 at the time New Plymouth Energy merged with the Taranaki Electricity Power Board. The TET's income is from Powerco dividends and interest from its other investments.

The income is distributed back into the community on many worthwhile projects by way of grants to qualifying organisations. By the TET retaining its ownership of the shares in Powerco, all dividend income received can continue to be poured back into the community, which will ultimately benefit thousands of Taranaki people.
