What am I?

What am I?
1. I am about 10 centimetres long, made of metal and was used during the time of the Great Fire of Hawera.
2. I screw into a wall or post.
3. I hold something up
4. People moved towards me during the hours of darkness.
5. If I was not screwed in properly or the timber was rotten the results could be disastrous.

Last week's answer?
