People's Milky Wheys
A Puke Ariki Teachers' Resource Unit
People's Milky Wheys is a multi-level teaching and learning resource for the classroom. This unit encompasses the history of man's domestication of the dairy cow and focuses specifically on the history of the dairy industry in Taranaki and dairying in New Zealand in general. People's Milky Wheys is a Social Studies curriculum-based unit that can also be used as an integrated studies document, including elements of the Technology, Science, Arts, Mathematics and English curricula. Researched and written by Mike Tapp, graphic design by Moon Cameron,
cartoons by Jamie Henry.

People's Milky Wheys is based on the resources of Puke Ariki, utilising the exhibition galleries, documents and images from the Taranaki Research Centre. All these resources can be accessed by students and teachers to enhance the intrinsic value of this document.
The unit includes:

- Students' Resource Kit
- Historic and contemporary photographs
- A drama set in rural Taranaki
- Curriculum strands, aims and objectives, processes, indicators etc, and assessment activities.
