Autere Street, New Plymouth Named after the Maori waka (canoe) landing and fishing village situated below its Northern end. The site is now occupied by the East End Rotunda.
Blake Street, Waitara Named after Lieutenant Blake of HMS Niger.
Nugent Street, Bell Block
Major Major C.L. Nugent commanded the 58th and 65th Regiments during the New Zealand Land Wars and was the first man to bring troops to New Plymouth.

A Chinese immigrant was a key figure in helping to develop Taranaki's dairy industry, especially in the making and refrigeration of butter. He is even responsible for producing one of New Zealand's most recognisable food items - the pound of butter.
