Main Gallery

The Main Gallery is the ever-changing face of Puke Ariki and provides a place to showcase national and international touring exhibitions.  It also provides a space to display our own self-generated exhibitions.

A T. rex Named Sue

Saturday 26 July – Sunday 2 November

Main Exhibition Gallery

Puke Ariki is proud to be the first venue in New Zealand to host this exhibition from North America.

The exhibition showcases a dramatic life-sized skeleton cast of the Tyrannosaurus rex that roamed North America over 67 million years ago. At 12.8 metres long and 3.6 metres high, Sue is the largest, most complete, and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered.
