People have always been fascinated by early life.

New Zealand Fossils: Dead Precious! showcases an 
impressive range of fossils from sea creatures to 
reptiles, shells and plants.

Celebrating the unique story of New Zealand's past, present and future, Puke Ariki is proud to be the first New Zealand centre to host this national touring exhibition.

Dr Hamish Campbell, geologist, palaeontologist
and author of the newly published book '
In Seach of Ancient New Zealand', will talk on
the role of fossils in our understanding of the
geological history of New Zealand and discuss the
fossils linking us to Gondwanaland, Zealandia
and the rise of New Zealand.
