Pete the Sheep, Jackie French & Bruce Whatley
Angus & Robertson
Reviewed by Mark Dwyer (Courtesy of Taranaki Daily News)

Pete the Sheep is a classic from the Aussie pairing of Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. A huge hit with all my family, it's a hilarious read about what can happen when you do things a little differently.

Set in outback Australia, things are turned upside down for a shearing gang when a new shearer called Shaun joins the gang, not with a sheepdog but with a "sheep sheep" called Pete.

The shearers, Ratso, Big Bob and Bungo, soon find out the Shaun does everything a little differently and the relationship soon turns sour. But Shaun and Pete the sheep aren't too worried and set off on their own venture and in the end everything works out happily for everyone. A very clever and entertaining read.
