District Libraries  

Our main district libraries are located at Bell Block, Waitara, Inglewood and Oakura. Their services include:

  • Extensive fiction and non-fiction lending collections for all ages
  • Reference collections, for all ages, to use in the library 
  • Children's and Teen collections that include fiction, non-fiction, audio books, magazines, picture books, readers and board books. Puzzles, games and wacky books to be enjoyed while you visit.
  • Regular children's holiday programmes and pre-school programmes
  • Homework assistance for young people
  • Maori collections for adults and young people to borrow
  • Assistance with information queries (with first 15 minutes free of charge)
  • Music CDs, CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs for hire
  • Public access databases including Epic, readers advisory, a New Zealand periodical index, community grant information and career information
  • Interloan service - this allows us to access books and articles that we don't have, from other libraries in New Zealand
  • A selection of children's CD-ROMs for use in the library
  • Tutorials on using the library catalogue and using the Internet
  • Internet access for members is free and for non members based on a charge-for-use basis.
  • Access to Interloan, database and research services provided at Puke Ariki in New Plymouth
  • Colour photcopying at Inglewood and Waitara Libraries
